Polypodium invites local and global luminaries to bring people together to discuss ideas and the creative process. The events take place within our informal studio space, which encourages more personal interaction with the speakers. So far the series have involved graphic designers, authors, thought-leaders, product designers, architects, filmmakers, artists, and information designers.

If you have any suggestions for a speaker, or to book a spot for upcoming events, please drop us a note at connect@polypod.com.lb or join the Polypodium Facebook page.

Yazan Halwani
Yazan Halwani became interested in street art from watching French hip-hop and movies. At 16, Yazan started producing the largest graffiti murals in Beirut, developing his own style characterized by the use of Arabic calligraphy, oriental patterns and portraits.

Yazan’s murals are an assertion of Arabic culture and identity that is being erased by westernization, media and local politics. In the murals, he tries to immortalize 'positive cultural figures' by showing a more affirmative side of cities. He believes street art should grow with the city and not against it: a successful mural is one that can become an urban landmark with which inhabitants can identify.

Yazan has participated in street art events in Lebanon, Germany, Singapore, Dubai, Tunisia, France and the USA. In January 2013 he received the Guinness World Record for the 'Largest Glow in the Dark Graffiti' in the world for a mural in Beirut.
